Studio D'Artisan brings together two of Japan's most enduring textile traditions in this remarkable pair of jeans. Built from a hefty 17oz Bushu sashiko fabric, the material offers the distinctive texture and durability that made sashiko a practical choice for generations. Originally developed as a method of reinforcing garments for warmth and longevity, Bushu sashiko is still trusted today in traditional kendo and judo uniforms.
The fabric is then finished using the centuries-old mud-dyeing techniques of Amami Oshima. Natural dye extracted from the island's native Teech tree is layered with iron-rich mud formed over more than 1.5 million years, creating a rich, earthy color with remarkable depth and subtle variation. No two pairs are exactly alike, and the color will continue to evolve beautifully with wear.
Cut in Studio D'Artisan's proven SD-101 regular straight fit, these jeans offer a comfortable medium rise with a timeless straight leg. Finished with natural nut buttons, they're a thoughtful blend of heritage craftsmanship, rare natural dyeing, and everyday wearability.
